Allotments
Allotments have seen an increase in popularity in recent years, as people of all ages become interested in leisure gardening and producing their own food.
The Town Council took over the Church Street Allotments in November 2020. Having existed in the town for several decades, the allotments give so much pleasure, social interaction, physical and mental well-being and so our aim is to implement improvement works to make the allotments even more enjoyable and accessible for all.
The site has 170 plots of varying sizes to cater for the needs of a wide selection of the community, from novices to keen, experienced gardeners. The site is located off Church Street, behind St Bartholomew & All Saints Church, and is easy walking distance from the High Street.
Parking
There is limited parking for allotment holders at the site. The car park should only be used by tenants tending their plots. Due to the limited amount of space, we kindly ask that tenants park responsibly when using the area to maximise the number of vehicles available to park.
Allotment gate keys are only available to tenants and can be purchased from the Town Council offices, during opening times; Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm and Friday 8.30pm to 4pm. A £12 deposit is charged, but is returnable when keys are brought back to the office upon surrender of a tenant’s plot.
