Community Planting Power

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped plant a new hedgerow around New Road Park on Sunday 20th November 2022. Glorious weather for planting and it was a fantastic example of the power of community effort. With around 30 local residents taking part, it took less than an hour to plant 400 whips and create 200m of new hedgerow!

Dave Gardner from the Royal Wootton Bassett Environmental group said “It was great to meet and chat with you all and lovely to hear your support for our project to introduce more trees and wildflower areas in our parks. I would also like to thank Justin from the council grounds who took time out of his weekend to help organise the event and who, with his colleagues will be responsible for looking after the hedgerows as it develops over the years”.

PLEASE NOTE: THE TREE PLANTING IN SHOWFIELD PLANNED FOR SUNDAY 27TH NOVEMBER 2022 HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE PLANTING AREA BECOMING WATER LOGGED AFTER THE RECENT RAINS.
