The #DDay80 commemorations began at 8am this morning with our Town Crier, Owen Collier’s proclamation cry paying tribute to those who fought for our freedom on this day, 8o years ago. The Mayor then read out a poem composed by Owen, followed by wreaths laid from the Deputy Lieutenant Angus MacPherson, Mayor Councillor Pat Farrow, Deputy Mayor Martin Denz & Deputy Mayoress Kate Denz, Town Clerk Mark Hopkins and a Royal British Legion member, photos below.
