HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh today. Prince Philip was a true servant of our great nation who served this country with distinction and nobility. Husband to our Queen, Prince Philip was a devoted father who was a central figure in our Royal Family and our Nation’s life. We also acknowledge the huge number of Charitable Groups that the Prince was a patron of over the years and the positive impact that his association had on their activities. In Royal Wootton Bassett, our motto is “We Honour Those Who Serve” and the Duke of Edinburgh is fully deserving of our honour for his support for our Monarchy. On behalf of the people of Royal Wootton Bassett, the Mayor, Nic Hughes, and the Mayoress, Sue Hughes, wish to convey to Her Majesty The Queen our deepest sympathy.
From Monday the Town Council front Office will be open with a book of Condolence to be signed and small gifts can be left also. People wishing to leave floral tributes can leave them under Town Hall.
