Youth Council to be developed in Royal Wootton Bassett  

Young people in Royal Wootton Bassett will be able to influence decision making and have their ideas heard following the Full Council meeting on Thursday 13th March 2025, where the Council agreed to support the proposal of setting up Royal Wootton Bassett Youth Council.   

This commitment follows a meeting with Royal Wootton Bassett’s Town Council’s Mayor and Chief Officer with Chippenham’s Youth Council Chair who spoke on the positive impact of having a Youth Council. The Chief Officer has also met with The Rise Trust and the Inclusion Manager at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy who are fully supportive of the idea.  

The Town Council will be holding a Youth Forum at the Council Offices for young people interested in joining Royal Wootton Bassett’s Youth Council. The Youth Forum will be open to Royal Wootton Bassett residents aged 11-18 to gather feedback on the proposal. The aim then will be to launch the Youth Council in Autumn 2025.
