Wessex water proposing a sewage pumping station at New Road park
WESSEX WATER HAS WITHDRAWN THEIR APPLICATION AS PER WILTSHIRE COUNCIL PLANNING WEBSITE.
We understand that there has been some concern expressed about the Wessex Water sewage pumping station application in New Road play park; Planning Application 19/07611/FUL.
Wessex Water is promoting a scheme to address the population growth in Royal Wootton Bassett which has made worse the flooding incidents in New Road and also seeks to address the unsatisfactory Combined Sewer Overflow performance.
Wessex Water are looking to purchase a small section of land in New Road park to locate an underground tank which will attenuate the flow of water.
At this time Wessex Water have made an offer to purchase a small piece of New Road park, and provide a brand new play area within the park, which the Town Council will consider during the September/October 2019 committee cycle.
For the scheme to proceed however Wessex Water also require a valid planning permission from Wiltshire Council. Wessex Water hope that both local authorities will make decisions in their favour to allow the scheme to proceed in January 2020.
Any questions regarding the planning application should be submitted to Wessex Water’s contact Michelle Hancox, Project Manager on 0345 600 4600.
There is a separate application in Vale View for the construction of 3 houses. This is not connected to the Town Council or the Wessex Water scheme and is a private application.
