Our Remembrance Services will be held on Sunday 10th November 2024 for Remembrance Sunday and Monday 11th November 2024 for Armistice Day. We will post further details nearer the time. Please see below for last years events of commemoration.
Armistice Day – Saturday 11th November 2023
A special day of remembrance when we remember the service personnel of all nations who give their lives for our freedom. A short service was taken at 10.50am followed by two-minute silence at 11am, by the War Memorial on the High Street. Thanks to all who attended.
Remembrance Parade – Sunday 12th November 2023
A Remembrance Sunday parade and open-air service took place on Sunday 12th November 2023 around the War Memorial on the High Street in Royal Wootton Bassett. We gathered to remember the fallen, to pay our respects and gratitude to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II and other conflicts. The parade was well attended with over 200 people marching down the High Street to the War Memorial. The service was given by the Royal British Legion Royal Wootton Bassett Branch along with ministers from St Bartholomew’s & All Saints’ Church and the Methodist Church.
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council are incredibly grateful to all who were involved in organising and making the above event possible. We thank everyone who attended to show their respect and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives for us, their country and for our freedom.
The wreaths that were laid at the War Memorial will be moved to the Royal British Legion’s Garden of Remembrance in Downs View Cemetery in the coming weeks.
