Armed Forces Day

Saturday 28th June 2025 was Armed Forces Day; a day for everyone to show their appreciation and support to the armed forces community. This year marked the 20th Anniversary of the Hercules XV 179 being brought down during the conflict in Iraq and the 10 personnel being repatriated back to RAF Lyneham. The Royal British Legion Royal Wootton Bassett Branch, Royal British Legion Riders, Councillors, dignitaries and residents gathered around the War Memorial for the Armed Forces Day service.

A road closure was in place to allow the RBL Riders to park along the High Street and part-take in the service. The service started at 10:45am; taken by the Mayor’s Chaplain; Micheal Page. Wreaths were laid by the RBL, RBL Riders and Mayor to honour those who have been repatriated through Royal Wootton Bassett.
