Coronation Country Park Opening Ceremony
On Saturday 10th May 2025 the Coronation Country Park was officially opened by the Worshipful Mayor, Councillor Pat Farrow.
The event started with a wonderful cry from our Town Crier Owen Collier, and Chief Officer, Mark Hopkins, welcomed everyone to the event.
A plaque was attached to a rock; kindly donated by Crappers and Sons Ltd, which was unveiled by the Mayor, officially opening the Country Park. Many residents, groups (and lots of dogs) attended the event.
Community Groups including RWB Environment Trust, Wilts & Berks Canal Trust, Wiltshire Museum, Gardening Club and Museum Group all attended the event as well as Royal Wootton Bassett Town Councillors and staff who were all on hand to speak to residents and visitors of the area.
Thankfully the weather remained dry and sunny so everyone could enjoy the beautiful views the Country Park has to offer. Visitors enjoyed nature walks organised by RWB Environment Trust, canal trips organised by Wilts & Berks Canal Trust and a view and landmarks talk given by Judy and Richard Gosnell.
The Country Park offers an exciting opportunity for residents and organisations to shape how this park can benefit the whole town. It is a fabulous space for recreation, nature and improving connections across town, so we are keen to engage with local people and organisations to collectively agree how it might be improved and can benefit the whole town and the enjoyment of everyone.
