VE Day 80th Anniversary Evening Event
We wish you a warm welcome to our free family VE Day 80th Anniversary Event on Thursday 8th May 2025 at the Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Club, Malmesbury Road SN4 8DS starting at 6pm.
Car parking is available on site, however you may wish to allow extra time to arrive and park due to the ongoing roadworks nearby. On a first come first serve basis, a 19 seater bus is being provided from 5.30pm onwards, which has steps up into the bus. Located in at the front entrance of Borough Fields car park, it will take you to the event, with the last bus leaving just before 10pm from the Rugby Club to return to Borough Fields car park.
For those who wish to walk, the bottom entrance at Jubilee Lake will be open for pedestrian access.
Temporary toilets will be available and some seating provided, however you may wish to bring your own seat. 40’s Dress is optional.
Feel free to purchase drinks at the Rugby Club’s outside bar, partake at the various food stalls, take a wander around the military tents and Scarrott & Sons Family Fun Fair are providing fairground attractions for little ones entertainment.
We are also delighted to keep everyone entertained with live music on 2 stages, plus host a dance presentation from our local award winning dance troupe, ahead of lighting the beacon at 9.30pm in celebration of the ‘light of peace’ that emerged out of the darkness of war.
