Two-week consultation on compliance with the revised basic conditions due to new planning rules.
ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN 2 2026-2038
During the examination, the examiner has identified that new planning legislation which came into force on 25th March 2026, affects the legal requirements (including basic conditions) that neighbourhood plans must meet. The examiner has therefor asked Wiltshire Council to carry out a short, targeted consultation so that comments can be made on whether the neighbourhood plan complies with these new legal requirements.
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council have made further revisions by way of an addendum to their Basic Conditions Statement which accompanied the draft neighbourhood plan 2.
Wiltshire Council is now consulting statutory bodies and interested parties on the updated document, attached.
The Consultation runs from Wednesday 19 August until 5pm on Wednesday 2 September 2026.
Any representations to the addendum to the Basic Conditions Statement are encouraged via the online consultation portal at: https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/planning-neighbourhood-consultations

In the interest of clarity, this additional consultation is solely on the addendum to the Basic Conditions Statement, not on the Neighbourhood Plan 2 itself or any other supporting documents.
Once this consultation has closed, all representations received will be collated and provided to the appointed Independent Examiner who will examine this and other elements of the neighbourhood plan 2 in accordance with the relevant regulations.
