D-Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations

A FREE Community event for all the family, taking place at RWBRFC to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings.

41 Degrees will be headlining the event, also featuring
The Wessex Male Choir.
Cantanti Choir.

Fairground attractions for the children.
Vintage cars on display.
Food vendors including a fish and chips van. This is a nod to the significant role fish and chips played to ensure the safety of our troops on foreign soil. Soldiers aware of others in the vicinity, & not knowing if friend or foe, called out ‘Fish’. If the response was ‘Chips’ he was certain the unseen person was a friend.

The lighting of the Beacon is an event taking place throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories at 9.15pm.
Representing our town will be Rev Canon Jane Curtis, who will undertake the reading of the Tribute and our Town Mayor will be lighting the Beacon.
We would love to see the whole town there to join in and celebrate with us.
